Having a snack that you can just grab and go is a lifesaver because most of us are on the go constantly. When it comes to sticking to a cleaner diet, you have 2 options.

1) Spend the money on higher quality snacks at the store

2) or just decide to make them yourself

I go both ways, but usually will invest my time into preparing my own food – unless life gets crazy. Then I might just buy something until everything settles back down again.

Our current lifestyle habits is often the deciding factor of our food choices. Some people prefer to just buy things because it’s more convenient and others care about what they put into their body and choose to make things themselves so they know what is in their food.

I say – CARE!

Here is a sugar free and sugar substitute free snack that comes in handy when you are on the go or are fighting some serious craving attacks while on the Keto (or any other) diet. You can also double the recipe and stock pile some in the freezer and thaw as needed.

1 cup nut flour of your choice (almond, walnut or peanut work well in this recipe)
1/2 cup ground flax seed
2 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
2 squares of 86% or 92% cacao dark chocolate bar (Ghirardelli’s Intense Dark has <1 gram of sugar with no sugar substitutes)
1/4 tsp. sea salt
Optional: ground coffee beans, unsweetened coconut flakes or crumbled nuts to coat each ball. You can also add in peanut butter to the mixture to give it a thicker and tastier kick.
1. Blend nuts or flax seeds until they turn into a flour-like texture (or buy it from the store already prepared)
2. Mix nut flour, ground flax seed, salt and cocoa powder until it becomes oily and thick.
3. Add in chucks of the chocolate bar and mix until it’s evenly dispersed.
5. Roll mixture into balls and store in refrigerator and pop em when you need em.
These are coated in espresso beans and unsweetened coconut flakes
This find is a jackpot. I couldn’t find any other brand that doesn’t have fake sugars and it only has 1 g of sugar (92% has .5 g).
My kind of cookie!
